FORBURY TRAINING NOTES.

[Br Tklbgraph.]

(from our own correspondent.)

DUNEDIN, March 17. The weather wae cold and wintry at Forbury this morning, but the rain held off for the early work, and most of the horses assembled in view of the Cup meeting did strong work on the outside portion of the main course, which was heavy going. Euroclydon, Don, and Pitch and Toss were the only ones that went on the inside. They galloped a mile and a half in about 2min 50sec, that being a good working spin. St. Paul went the Cup distance alone with rugs on, maintaining a sound pace throughout. EmmeJine cantered two miles, then galloped a mile with Jupiter. Arline seemed to hold Realistic safe at seven furlongs. Decoy did a long canter. Con.queror and Altair had similar exercise, each however, brushing along faster in the last half-mile. Maremma headed Lady Harriet at the end of a five furlong spin, and both finished in front of St. Clements. Lepanto galloped five furlongs. Black and Red went a mile and a half. Belle Clair, who was his companion for the first half of the journey, cleared away alone, showing great speed, and Blazer seemed to hold the Cup horse in the latter half of the gallop. St. Ouida and Nihilist ran half a mile together fast. Starshot and An tares travelled a mile neck and neck at a good pace, both shaping well, though not racing. Red Lancer had Black Pool for a mate in a seven furlong gallop. Fuknen and Signet ran five furlongs fairly welL Sequin did a mile and half, having Hippomenea and Benson as attendants. Prime Warden again stuck up, but when set going he travelled, well enough to prove in very good condition. Epaulet, who appears to be tit, did two miles at three-quarter pace. Others that worked were Bloomer, Proposal, Dundas, Seabrook, Battlefield, Lady Webster, and WolFs Crag.

Rain commenced after breakfast, but cleared later in the day.
