An assay of 81bs of stone taken from the reef which was lately struck in the Pioneer Company's claim on the Taitapu block at West Wanganui yielded at the rate of lloz lOdwts to the ton. The reef is 4ft wide. AUCKLAND, March 16. The yield of gold for the month is valued at £32,400, a slight decrease on the yield for the previous month, owing to a number of stampers being hung up through the want of water.
