FORBURY TRAINING NOTES. [BY TELEGRAPH.]
[PROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] DUNEDIN, Match 15. The weather continued fine at the Forbury this morning, and a lot of good work was got through. Emmeline, accompanied first by D,ecoy, then by Jupiter, galloped .twice, round the plough, which is roughly the Cap distance, at a thoroughly sound pace, shaping better than usual and decidedly impressing the spectators. St. Ouida, who is very well, had a good tussle with Maremma for seven furlongs, beating him by half a length. St. Paul, looking considerably lighter than
when he visited Christchurch in the spring, went a mile at about three-quarter pace, displaying beautiful action. Antares ran the two rounds in about 3min 20aec, slowing up in the last half mile. St. Clements was his companion in the first round. Fulmen shaped better than usual, sticking to Nihilist in a six-
furlongs spin, after the latter had made up the couple of lengths he lost at the start. Both beat Lady Harriet, she finishing about three lengths away. Red Lancer went moderately well in his mile and a-half
journey, but could not get away from Realistic, who joined in for the last seven furlongs. Belle Clair, Euroclydon, and Arline jumped off from a point a little below the judge's post. Eureclydon, being
slow in starting, lost four or five lengths. This he had recovered at the foot of the straight so far as Belle Clair was concerned, and the spectators looked forward to the possibility of his catching Arline, when all slowed down,. leaving it an open question which is best at the. distance. Prime Warden, Battlefield and Tassy having arrived from Wyndham in charge of White, they came out for steady work. Prime
Warden, who at first stuck up, looks very fresh, and went a useful canter. Sequin was sent the Cup distance, Marlin bringing her home for six furlongs, and it was only in this six furlongs that the pace was put on. Wimbledon and Georgia Sharp cantered, then ran seven furlonge fast. Blazer seemed to be going easy in his work, but the watch showed he had done a very fair half-mile. Pitch and Toss galloped nearly two rounds at a solid bat, brought home by Signet,
who, however, was of no use to the Cap mare. Black and Red did a useful gallop but was not extended, and baokers are despairing of his chance in the Cap. Visionary and Benson galloped five furlongs. The others that worked were Lady Webster, Pine's filly by Digby Grand, The Idler, and Belmont (the last two being taken over the jumps), Black Pool, Corvettte, Wolf's Crag, and Lepanto. Bain is threatening.
