The Hon. W. J. Steward, M.H.R., is on a visit to Christchurch.

Mr Woolf Harris (Bing, Harris and Co.) arrived from the North in the Manapouri on Sunday, and remains in town for a few days. Colonel Pole Penton was a passenger by the express to the Oamaru rifle meeting yesterday. Messrs James McKerrow and Sydney Weetman were pa-seneers by the express to Waitaki yesterday morning. Mr B. Pearson, of Pukekohe, was a passenger to Dunedin by the same train, i Mr H. Burnett was also a passenger to Dunedin. Mr Humphries, Crown Lands Commissioner of the Nelson district, is on a visit to Christchurch. Mr, Mrs and Miss Ross, of Wellington, were passengers for the South in the express yesterday. Mr W. Deßenzi, of Winchester, wa3 a passenger to Christchurch in last night's express, and proceeds to Hanmer. Plains. His Honour Judge Ward was a passenger from Dunedin to Ashburton by yesterday's express. Mr A. Fairburn was a through passenger from Dunedin last night. Mr C. May was a passenger from Dunedin in last night's express.

The Rev. W. Baumberleft for Wellington yesterday. The members of the Police Commission are to arrive at Lyttelton this morning by the Rotomahana, and go on to Dunedin by train.
