WAIMAKARIRI RIVER BOARD.
The South Waimakariri River Board met yesterday aftecnoon. Present—Messrs R. W. England (in the chair), R. M. Taylor,; Jas. Glanville, E. Smith, J. C. Atkinson,G. F. Carpenter, C. F. Money and W.; Peryman. The Chairman reported that since the special meeting held on March 4th the Chairman of the Selwyn County Council and Mr Gough, one of the members, had seen him on the subject of the work recently carried out by Mr Davis, in order water out of the head, works for the water races. They represented that they had interfered with the stream to a very slight extent. It was resolved to notify the County Council that the' Board adheres to its previous resolution, and requests that the obstruction be removed as quickly as possible and to the satisfaction of the Board's overseer. The overseer's report of the 12th inst. waa then read. He reported putting in a new groyne and repairing two others 20 chains below No. 1 embankments and that the new embankment at Mason's Flat had also been repaired by putting in two large bales of concrete. He had also put in five small, floating groynes below that embankment. The waber-race manager had cob yeb removed the boulder dam opposite the northwest corner of R.S. 4856. The report was adopbed. Ib was resolved, on the motion of Mr Glanville, seconded by Mr Carpenter, "Thab steps be taken to have the gravel deposits near White's bridge surveyed into 1 acre sections by the Board's overseer, with a view of making them remunerative, and that offers be invited from persons willing to lease the same in one or more sections." Accounts' amounting to £93 153 5d were passed for payment. Mr Peryman gave - notice of motion for next meeting of special order to levy rates for next year.
