ROAD BOARDS.
LINCOLN. I A letter was received at the last meefcina 1 of the Lincoln Road Board from, the Troa. I _ury, notifying that the sum of £21 l? a 3d I balance of last year's subsidy, had bean B placed to the Board'- account at the i National Bank. Mr H. Anderson 1 wrote I asking for settlement of an account for re' 1 pairing a boundary fence, which the J Board's tenant declined to do. The Clerk fi was instructed to attend to same. The fi contractor for new bridge wrote, asking fojt 1 an extension of time, as he could not obtain i the timber required. One month granted, | The overseer's report was considered. Re. I sblved-rThat tenders be invited, returnable f at the next meeting, for forming the new I road through R.S. 951, and for keeping 1 clean the district drains for twelve months. I HEATHCOTE. 1 At the last meeting of tho Heathcote 1 Road Board the Church Property Trustees 1 offered to give land at Duke's corner, Wpod. I hara road, to make the existing road one '■'J chain in width, on condition that the roadig 1 formed at once. The land was accepted on § this condition. Tho Treasury advised that. | the balance of subsidy due for 1896-7, viz., 1 £25, had been paid into the Board's 1 account. The Government Valuation I Department advised that the new valu-i ation rolls would be available for local 1 rating purposes for the next finanoial year. i- : | Mr Robert Walker Bromley wrote, claim' 1 ing damages for fenoing destroyed by cattle i depastured on the Canal Reserve by per- I mission of the Board. It Mas resolved— 1 That Mr Walker's letter be forwarded to 1 the Woolston Borough Council, who let the 1 reserve for grazing purposes. A petition which had been forwarded to the Halswell Road Board, asking for repairs to Gave., nor's Bay road, was received from that body. lb was pointed out that extensive repairs had already been done on this road. However, representatives from the Halswell Board are to be invited to inspect the road, to determine if further work is ooneidered § necessary. |
TAIaTAPU.
The Tai Tapu Road Board, at tho last meeting, accepted the following tenders for the cleaning of the drains:—Main drain,, H, Melhopfc ; Back road drain, H. Leathern*! Township drain, L. Thompson. It was' resolved to invite tenders to quarry„and break 300 to 400 yards stone; alsO that the metal at present in hand be carted. The Poundkeeper wrote that he had lost during the year £3 lis on the sale of cattle and asking for a refund. The Board could not grant the request. The Valuer-General notified tint the balance of subsidy, £13 2s, sd, had been forwarded. It was resolved that notice be given to the present occupier of Dunsford Valley reserve that it is the intention of this Board to call tenders for the lease thereof at the next meeting. It was decidedV to take steps to remove/a nuisance caused by piggeries.
