TRAMWAY TRACTION.
(PBKSS ASSOCIATION TELKOBAM.) •DUNEDIN, January 26. At v the annual meeting of the City and Suburban Tramways Company, Mr George Fenwick, Chairman of Directors, stated that during his visit to the United States and Great Britain last year he made special enquiries into the various traction systems in vogue. Except in the very largest of the American cities, such as New York and Chicago, the overhead trolly system was almost invariably in use, and was everywhere spoken of ' most favourably. He made free use of the care, and found the system free from objectionable features. He made a special trip to Blackpool in the gae motors employed on the line there, and he considered the success of the motor from a purely working point of view was amply demonstrated. In Glasgow he made enquiries .about, the new motor, and waa advised to counsel the Dunedin Tramway Company not to hastily make any change, as there were possibilities of an early improvement in electrical tramway traction of a most important Character which would send the new system at once to the front.
