CONCILIATION BOARD.
(PBES-S AS4OCIA.TIOX TBLBORAM.) DUNEDIN, January 26. In the pastrycooks' dispute the Conciliation Board gave> its award, recommending that the hours of labour be 8} per day, or 51 pec week ; that overtime be paid the first, two hours in any day as time and a quarter, and thereafter until midnight as time and a.half, after which double time ; the rate of wage of foremen to be settled by agreement between the employer and the foreman ; no pastrycook to receive fesi than two guineas per week, and if a journeyman cannot obtain employment at this wage may refer his case to the Union, which may give him permission to work at a wage which his proposed employer is willing to pay, and which the workman is willing to accept; the proportion of apprentices to journeymen was fixed at one apprentice to the first one or two men, for more than two and up to four two apprentices, and so on. The award remains in force till the 31st December, 1898. The bootmakers' dispute-which is before the Conciliation Board, ha? been adjourned till February 16th.
