FIRE.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION T-LKGRAM.) AUCKLAND, January 20. An outbreak of fire took place in the fancy goodsdepartmentatSargood, Sonand Ewen's, to-night, caused by fancy baskets, suspended from the roof, being accidentally ignited. Fortunately, a number of employees were engaged in stock-taking. They turned on the fire hose in the department, with a splendid pressure of water, and suppressed the fire before the Brigade arrived. The damage from fire and water is supposed to be several hundred pounds.
