The Transvaal Government has exiled Mr Lionel Phillips, of Johannesburg, one of the National Ueform prisoners, who was released on the condition that he refrained from taking any part in politics in the Transvaal. Phillips broke his oath by discussing,in an article contributed by him to the Nineteenth Century, the state of politics in the Transvaal. Received January 20U>, 10.45 am. Capetown, January 20. Mr Lionel Phillips explains that he promised not to interfere in Transvaal politics, but such promise did not refer to discussions on politics.
