CHARITABLE AID.
The Auckland correspondent of the Otago Daily Time* states that according to a, country member of the Charitable Aid Board in Auckland the claim on local bodies' to contribute has increased 61 per cent, in twenty-four years. NOTHING~dAUNTBD. A Westport resident of some four score years embarked on the sea of matrimony for the fifth time a few days ainoe. "NURSES' HOLIDAYS. It has been decided by the Wellington Hospital Trustees that the senior nurses at the institution are in future to have four weeks' holiday in each year on full pay*. instead of the two weeks hitherto giveii. STUDENT CHWBTIAN UNION. At the Convention of the Australasian Student Christian Union in Sydney, Mr JT. McWilliam (president Canterbury College Union), read a -paper on "Personal Work;" Mr Kohere (Canterbury College, Christchurch) a paper on "The Essential Organisation of the Missionary Department of Christian Unions ;" Mr Smythe (Canterbury College) spoke on "The* Usefulness .of Boys' Clubs,'' and Mr C. A. B. Watson (corresponding secretary, University of New Zealand Union) read a paper on "Bible,: Study."
