SOUTH RAKAIA. .
The Board met on January 6tn. Present —Messrs Lambie (Chairman), Holmes, Richards, Morland and Stringfellow. The Clerk's report was considered. His action in accepting C. Pluck's tender for grass seed was approved. The Clerk was instructed to sue for outstanding ratee at once. Mr Holmes, gave notice of motion for the next meeting that a general rate of Jd in the £ on all rateable properties in the district be struck for the year ending March 51st, 1898. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Connty Council that,all the trees at the south end of the plantation 6n the Great South road are. destroyed by sheep. Correspondence wae received from the Council, re sand drift. The members drove down and inspected the same. It was resolved that there war no fear of the traffic being impeded at present, therefore >no funds would bei expanded on the wcfrfc. . coining cfroai Uberi vek ; ''h'e^Jb^:|w^ew! to the road and into the gravel /rh# Cierk was instructed to write to Mr 'Allan that -this must not be repeated. Mr ' Haslett wrote, aeking the Board >*o grant : permits for grating horse* and cattle on public roads for three months al a saball fee. The Board regretted it oould not comply with the request.
