THE FLORAL FETE.
The Executive Committee in connection with the floral fete was held at tha City Council Chambers last night. Present— His Worship the Mayor and Messrs E. Smith, H. Kent, G. Capper, C. Louisson, W. E. Thompson, T. West, T. Russell, A. Marshall, L. Cockayne, F. C. East, 0. W. Exall, C. Hull, R. McMillan, M. Murphy, and H. B. Kirk.
Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs Kernahan, Cheeseman, Baker, Hancock and Hart.
The Mayor, for the Subcommittee appointed to interview the Christchurch Cycling Club, reported that the Committee came to the conclusion that an offer of 10 per cent, of the net profits would be reasonable. This view was placed before the Committee of the Club and approved. Mr Thompson said he had placed the matter before the Club, who had approved of the proposal. On the motion of Messrs LouissON and Hull it was decided to allow the 10 per cent, as proposed. The programme as submitted by the Programme Committee was approved with the addition of classes for any original floral exhibit and for the best decorated multicycle.
Mr Louisson reported that the SubCommittee appointed to do so had interviewed the Christchurch Tramway Company, who stated that they proposed to charge bd each way to and from the show grounds and would make the Committee a handsome donation.
It was decided to allocate the sum of £50 for printing and advertising, and Messrs Kent, Murphy, East, Hart and Exall were appointed the Committee.
The Chairman, the Treasurer (Mr Louisson) and Mr A. Marshall were appointed the Finance Committee.
After a conversational discussion as to future arrangements the Committee adjourned until Wednesday next. A meeting of the combined Programme and Advertising Committees takes place on Friday evening.
