AUCKLAND RACING CLUBS SPRING MEETING.

fFBOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDS! , .] AUCKLAND, November 9. The Auckland Racing CluVe meeting was continued to-day. The weather was beautifully fine, and the attendance of the public large. The racing was most interesting and close, thanks to Mr Evett's splendid handicapping. The Prince of Wales's Handicap produced a great finish between Panoply and Fabulist, the first named gaining a half length win. The racing passed off smoothly and altogether was mo3t enjoyable. The Ellersfie trainer, F. McManemin, again won four races with horses trained by him, making eight for tne two days. The sum of £8262 was passed through the totalisators, making a total of £13,656 for the two days. Details :— SPRING HANDICAP, of 100 soya; second 10 soys from the stake. Seren furkjnpt 75. Mr J. When the barrier lifted St. Gordon drew out in front, being followed by St. Clemente. The pair raced together to the cutting, where St. Gordon and Mahaki took command, with St. Clemente third. Racing I round the top stretch Tauhei and Mahaki were racing together for the lead, closely followed by St. Gordon and St. Clements. Entering the straight the last-named drew up to the leaders, and for a moment he looked like forging to the front, but at the Derby stand Tauhei and Eton put in a claim, and a moat exciting struggle ensued. At the lawn rails Lady Marion came out like a flash, and won easily by three lengths. St. Clements was fourth. Time, lmin 30sec. Diridend, £8 2s. After the race the rider of Porangi Potae laid a complaint against the rider of St. Clements for bumping and crossing at the six furlong post, but the Stewards, after consideration, dismissed it. started. , Levanter moved off in front, and, in company with Hairy Legs, was quickest to reach the first obstacle. Soon afterwards Hairy Legs set out to make the running ; then came Muscatel, the two last being Nor'-West and Retaliation. Hairy Legs led into the straight and past the stand, followed by Muscatel, but when the back of the course was reached, about cix furlongs from home, there was a rush for place 3, Nor'-Weet taking command. He came into the straight in great style, and, leaping the last hurdle three lengths in advance of Hairy Legs, went on and won by that distance; a race for second honours between Hairy Legs and Muscatel, ending in the last-named gaining the advantage. The start was a beautiful one, the colours of Kettledrum being the first to become prominent ; then Victoria Cross and St. Ursula. Kettledrum continued to make the running, and he came into the straight half ft length in front of Victoria Cross. The whips were out in the straight, but at the Derby stand Hermosa asserted herself, and, catting down Kettledrum, came on in a game manner and won by two lengths, while Problem, who I finished well, was a good third. A capital start saw Panoply first to get on his legs, and he showed the way into the straight in front of Tauhei, Swordfish and Doneraile. When the stand was reached, Tauhei was a length in front of Tbe Angler, then came Yattenfeldt, the field being whipped in by Fabulist and Nestor. Tauhei showed The Angler the way out of the bottom turn, with Fanoply close up, then followed Merry Maid and Fabulist, while Swordfish had dropped back last. Tanhei continued to make the running, and approaching the cutting was three lengths in front of The Angler; Yattenfeldt, who still stuck to his task, third and Panoply fourth. At the cutting Panoply moved inw) second place, and round the top stretch Tauhei and Panoply raced for the lead with Fabulist next, then followed at an interval of five lengthe Swordfish and Merry Maid. Soon afterwards Tauhei faded away, and Panoply and Fabulist raced into the straight on close terms. A great set to ensued from the Derby stand between the pair, Panoply, assisted "by his light weight, winning an exciting race by half a length with Merry Maid close up third. Fiukem continued to make the running, and the next round at the double in front of the stand he had folly twelve lengths the best of il, Conscript and Bombardier being on closest terms. Soon afterwards Mozel improved his position, but as they raced to the hurdle on the far side of the course Flukem, Con- j script and Mozel were racing together, j Mozel showed Conscript the way up the hill, and the latter was onlj three lengths behind Mozel. The last named showed the way down the hill and into the straight, while Perform had collapsed. Bombardier and Conscript each came with a good run in the straight, but they could not catch Mozel, who held his own and won by a length, whilesix lengths separated Bombardier and Conscript. Waiorongomai and Royal Conqueror were the first to get going, but eeoo

afterwards Reaction went to the head of affairs, with Royal Conqueror and Le Roi next, the whole of the field being bunched at the cutting. A few strides further on Complete took command, but when the home turn was reached Waiorongomai had a length the best of Complete. In the straight the sight was a pretty one, the field all being in a heap, but Waiorongomai continued to have the beet of it, and stalling 68 a final challenge of Canopus and Tim, she won a splendid race by three-parts of a length, there being hftlf-a-length between second and third. Rex jumped away in front with Blairina, Cuiralba and Picklock next. Rex continaed to hold his own and led Picklock by a length round the top stretch. At the turn for home Picklock was level with Rex, with St. Elmo prominent. Rex died away and Picklock looked all over the winner until a few strides from the poet, when Hb. Elmo shot up and won by a head. Time, lmin 4sec. Dividend, £5 7s.
