THE INDIAN FRONTIER.
HARASSING THfi BRITISH FORCE.
Press Association—By Telegraph-Copyright. Calcutta, November 8. The guerilla tactics adopted by the Afridis are proving very harassing to the British forces. They nearly oaptured a foraging paity, killing two and wounding five soldiers. The "snipers," the name under which these guerilla fighters ara kuowu, adopt the method of detailing one of their number to draw the lire of a sentry or camp when the others, who have made a detour, fire in the direction from which the sentry has fired. By these tactics the " snipers " killed Lieutenant G. L. Gifford, of the Northamptonshire regiment, and wounded several others.
A column under Colonel Richardson, despatched to the Kurram Valley, whilst making a reconnaissance along the Kurmana river, had a sharp fight with the tribesmen, upon whom severe punishment was inflicted.
