West African advices report that the King of Benin, who was lately tried before a British tribunal for the massacre of the British Mission, under Consul Phillips, and who was deported to Calabar, on the "West African coast, would in all probability have been reinstated in his kingdom under tutelage, had ho not attempted to escape while being conveyed to Calabar. A BANKRUPT'S DISCHARGE SUSPENDED. October 27The Bankruptcy Court has delivered judgment in an application for the discharge in bankruptcy of Robert Standish Sievier, turf commission agent, the discharge being suspended for a period of two years. The Customs Committee has fixed the general duty on butter at 30f the double cwt, the minimum tariff being fixed at 20f the double cwt. FATAL PANIC IN A CHURCH. St. Petersburg, October 27. A fire which broke out during service in a church at Khnieliff resulted in a terrific panic and a wild stampede made for the places of exit. In the crush fifty-four persona were kilted and
