RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES.
Wednesday. In consequence of the high wind prevailing the tracks at Riccarton were all closed, and trainers had to be content with trotting and cantering their charges in the centre of the grounds.
Nominations for the Lancaster Park Trotting Club's Spring Meoting close on Saturday next. The programme appears in this issue.
The Wanganui Jockey Club's Spring Meeting takes place to-day and to-morrow. The following are our contributor's selections for to-day :—Spring Handicap— Angler or Blarney; Trial Hack Handicap, Bona Fide; Derby—Daunt 1, St. Conon 2, Toa 3; Hurdle Race—Fireworks; Hack Hurdles—Pokomoko ; Hack Race—Calmarine; Flying Handicap—Boreas. The North Otago Jockey Club's Spring Meeting commences to-day, when the following should run forward:—Maiden Plate —Mountebank ; Publicans' Handicap— Vandyke; Spring Handicap—Double Event; Elderslie Trot—Beware; Novel Race— Stockfish ; Ladies' Bracelet—Reel; Flying Handicap—Cannonshot. Mr Grigg has altered the name of his nomination in the C.J.C. Ladies' Purse from Skipper to Henchman. The racehorses Leda and Moreze came down from Wellington by the Rotorua yesterday morning.
