NOTICE is herehv ffiven that, pursuant to the provisions of the "Water Supply Aft, 1891, and amendments, the Counties Act, 1886, the Regulation of Local Elections Art, 1876, and all other provisions »nd authorities in that behalf thereunto e-iabliiijr, a rOLL of the RATEPAYKKS in the BROWN'S ROCK SUBDIVISION of the above district will be taken on TUESDAY, the 7th day "f SEPTEMBER. 1837, on the question whether or" not the Waimakariri-A«hley Water Supply "oard be authoiised to raise a SPECIAL LOAN of £3000 for the purpose and on the security hereinafter mentioned :— 1. The particular work proposed tD be undertaken is the completion of the system of Water Supply from the Hirer Wnimaksriri at Brown's Rock for the service of the land* within the Brown's Rock sub-division of the district. 2. The sum propored to bs borrowed for such purpose h £3000. 3. It is proposed topledsre as security for such loan Ist. The rents, rates, and profits derived from the sale, letting and user ot water supplied through the said system of water supply, after providing for maintenance, repairs, cost of collecting, and other necessary workinjr expenses. 2nd. A special annual rate, if required, for the purpose of making up any deficiency, of ONETKNTH OF A VKXXY IX THE £1, on the rateable value of all lands within the Brow.s's Rock subdivision of the district benefited by such work, estimated at 120,000 acres, of a rateable value of £540,000. NOMINATIONS must be made to the Secretary, at Ohoka, before 10 p.m. on SATURDAY, September 18th, accompanied with description and age of horses nominated, and a list of their performances, together with the necessary amount in cash. WEIGHTS will be declared as soon as practicable. ACCEPTANCES aud ENTRIES for HACK SELLING RACE must be made as above before 10 p.m. on THURSDAY, September 30th, accompanied with the necessary cash and colours of the riders. District Race means that horses and owners must be permanent residents between the rivers Conway, Amuri, and Waimakarin, for at least three month* prior to rode. Owners of hunters must produce Master's certificate of qualification for the season 1897 at the scales. Any winners after declaration o! weight* must carry 71b penalty. Stakes will be paid in full.
