A RECORD RUN.
TO THIS KDITOR OF THE TRESS. SiH,—The record reign celebrations di not appear to have died out ia New Zealand yet, as the ruuning of the workmen's train to Islington on Friday broke another record. The train in question left Christchnrch at 7.15 a.m. and arrived at Islington, seven miles distant, at 8.8 a.m. The Sydney (N.S.W.) funeral train, which leaves Redfern Mortuary station for the Rookwood Cemetery does the distance, eleven miles, including stoppages at fifteen stations, in 35 minutes, and that is considered slow travelling in that part of the world, but as the train is "a funeral train" the public do not complain. In our case the passengers are on a more cheerful mission, and expect to be conveyed to their destination in a reasonable time. Perhaps the Right Honourable will liven up things a bit when he returns.—Yours, &c, Workman.
