Press Association—By Telefjraph—Copyright. FATAL BOILER EXPLOSION. Sydney, August 27. A boiler explosion near Bathurst completely wrecked a mill, killed a man named Guthrie instantly, and seriously wounded several others. LAND AND INCOME TAX BILL. The Council has decided to postpone the Land and Income Tax Validating Bill till after the Federal Convention. BROKEN HILL COMPANIES. A scheme is afloat to combine the Broken Hill Companies in order to control the output from the Barrier and thus secure lower freights, improved prices, and more uniform shipments of products. FIRE ON A STEAMER. Albany, August 27. A fire whioh occurred on the Oroya was soon extinguished. Most of the passengers were asleep. One case of goods was burnt. The greatest damage wa3 by water. The goods damaged are chiefly for Melbourne.
