The International Workmen's Congress, which is sitting at Zurich, passed a resolution congratulating the British workers on their magnificent fight for the eight hours principle.

; The Burwood Colliery strike has been settled. The management has agreed to re-start on the strength of the men's assurance not to again leave work without due notice.

The management of the Dndley Colliery has given its employees a fortnight's notice that the pit will be closed unless they accept a reduction in the hewing rate from 2s lid to 2s 6d. The men have decided not to accept the reduction.
