W_l_ington, May 25. No Championship matches were played here on Saturday. St. Patrick's College beat Greytown Second by 22 points to nil, Gaffrey 4; tries.
The Wellington Club's competitions for the Levin Shield was won by D. fisher with 16 points, Hallamore being the second with 14. The previous winners are ;—B. W. li, Strange 1894, H. Dacre 1895, J. Roe 18%.The North and South match will ba played the day the New Zealand tetra leaves for Sydney.
On the Queen's Birthday Palmerstori defeated Poneko by 15 points to 6. Th* —tter were weak, as several men were in the "rep." team playing against Hawk*)!* Bay. Masterton Union beat Melrose yesterday by 8 points to 7. Greytown Second draw with the Athletia Second. All these games were played at the Athletic Park.
The New Zealand team will probably b» picked next Saturday night. . Carterton defeated, Wellington First st Carterton yesterday by 17 to 6. Next Saturday Poneke meet Melrose and Athletic Petone. The former should win ia each case.
