HAWKE'S BAY FLOOD RELIEF FUND.

(FKB33 ASSOCIATION TELEOIUM.) DUNEDIN, May 9. Exclusive of the amount sent direct the Hawke's Bay Flood Relief Fund is now over £700.

A lecture and entertainment has been been arranged to be given to-morrow evening in the Art Gallery, under the auspices of the Women's Political Association, in aid of the Hawke's Bay Flood Relief Fund. His Worship the Mayor invitee those willing to work on the Canvassing Committee for the Relief Fund to meet the Chairman of that Committee and himself at the City Council Chambers this afternoon at four o'clock. In view of the large area to be covered by the members of the Committee the number at present comprising it has been found too small. The meeting this afternoon is with a view of augmenting the Committee, and it is to be hoped both ladies and gentlemen will respond to the invitation.

A meeting of tlie Entertainment Committee of the Flood Relief Fund will be held at 7.30 p.m. to-morrow at the City Council Chambers.

The Ashburton Brass Band played an excellent selection of music in the Public Domain yesterday afternoon., the object being to raiee money towarde the Hawke's Bay Relief Fund. The sum of £5 15s was collected, and will be forwarded to Napier by the Mayor. "The Mayor of Ashburton (Mr J. Scaly) has collected over £58 towards the Hawke's Bay Flood Relief Fund.

A concert was given on Friday evening in the Ashburton Oddfellows' Hall in aid of the funds tor the sufferers by the Hawke's Bay floods. An excellent programme was given, amongst those assisting being the Ashburton Brass Band,. Mr Wm. Brooking, Miss Totnpkins, Mr Peachy, the Harmonic Society, Miss Simmonds, Mrs W. Mitchell, Miss Birdie Butler, Mr Horace A Gates, Miss Kathleen Orr, Mr E. Craighead, the Orchestral Society, Dr. Morris, Mrs Bowman - Fox, Miss Lambie, members of the Liederkranz, Mrs Claridge, Miss McDonnell, Mr Gordon and Mr Hoskins. Mr W. Joliffe and Mr E. F. Harris a-Jted as Hon. Secretaries. The net proceeds (£10) of the concert has been handed over to the Mayor and forwarded by him to Napier. A meeting of the Hawke's Bay Relief Fund Committee was held in the Lyttelton Council Chambers on Friday night. His Worship the Mayor occupied the chair. The reports from the collectors showed them to be doing-well. The programme for the concert on Tuesday next was submitted, and promised to be an excellent one, a song by a Chinaman being one of the items. ' It was decided to ask the contributors and collectors to have all subscriptions in by Friday next j also to call a meeting of the lady .collectors for 3 p.m. that day, and a meeting of the General Committee for 7.30 p.m., and to wind up the Committee's labours that night.'
