LINWOOD v KAIAPOI.
The senior teams of the above Clubs met at Lancaster Park on Saturday, when Linwood won by 21 points (a goal from a try, a potted goal, and four tries) to nothing. Mr W. G. Garrard was referee. At the outset Kaiapoi had tho best of the. play, and during the. first half-hour they had three iruitless shots at goal, from free kicks. Linwood . then got pni a passing run, which placed the country team on the defensive, and Hobbs gained a try which he failed to improve upon. A little later Wilson potted a goal for Linwood, and when the teams crossed over the score was 7 to 0 in their favour. "On resuming, Kaiapoi held their own for a time, but half way through the spell Saunders gained another try for Linwood, F. O'Brien failing to convert, and afterwards the town Club had a good deal the beet of the play, O'Brien, Price and Hobbs securing further tries, and Hobbs kicked a gaol from O'Brien's try. The last-named player also kicked a goal from Hobbs's try, but as a Kaiapoi man touched the ball in transit it did not count.
