On the course proper Vanitas caused a sensation by running once round in, 2a_ir_ 53sec, the last mile in lmin 474 sec. Cremorne put- in, a slashing mile in lmin 48-isec, giving The Honorable the go-by. Talavera on the tan negotiated a mile in lmin 47sec. Nowhaven, assisted by Hindooand Toreador, covered a couple of rounds, the first occupying 2min 35_sec, aad the second half a second longer. Survivor finished a length in front of Sabretache over a mile in lmin 52sec. Delaware had a decided call over Charge once round in 2min 38sec. Clo defeated True Blue over a mile in lmin 48isec. Reka is showing lameness. Waihine and a number of others did strong work.
There is a fair amount of betting for the Doncaster Handicap. Vanitas is very firm at 7 to 1 offered, at which price about £1000 was placed against her name. Reka, owing to unfavourable reports regarding her condition, receded to lOtol. Cremorne is in strong demand at the same figure, Adoration 100 to 7. For the Sydney Cup Battalion has hardened, and closed equal favourite with Tom at 8 to 1, Coil and Resolute divided second place at 10 to 1.
