The return of the Alburnia Goldmining Company's battery for the month of February was 215 tons stone treated for 107 ounces bullion, valued at £277. The sale negotiations in connection, with the Grace Darling property were considered at a meeting of the Directors. The meeting adjourned for fourteen days, pending the receipt of a communication from London.
Prospecting is continued in, different portions of the ranges which extend from Tokaanu to Tarawera. Some good stone is occasionally obtained, and interested parties atre very sanguine, though the bulk of the country is Maori-owned land, and the Natives are jealous of searchers.
The Hauraki return is 1330 ounces of gold, of the value of £3990, from 300 tons of stone.
