ANNUAL DISTRICT GRAND LODGE .-.■-. - 'MEETING. - '
The seventh annual meeting of the District Grand Lodge of Canterbury," was held in '-the'.Druids' 'Hall, Colombo: rood, Sydenham; 'at ll a.m. on Thursday,. D.G, President"Bro. J. Swinnerton presiding. The following officers and representatives were present:—D.G.V.P. Bro. J. J. Hunter, D.G.S. Bro. H. D. Rayner, D.G.T. Bro. T. Walker, D.G-G. Bro. Tom Smith, P.D.G.P.'s Bros Bailey, Tomson, Stewart and Penfold, and representatives from the Pioneer, Hope of St. Albans, Mistletoe, Ethelbert, Lyttelton Heart of Oak, Angelsea, Perseverance, Hope 1 of Amberley, Anchor, Ohoka, Timaru, Star of Ashburton, Linwood, Trafalgar, Oak of Sydenham, Ola Oak and Ellesmere Lodges. • The Grand President gave a review of the work of the year and referred to a visit paid by him to the North Island Grand Lodge and his hearty reception there. A vote of thanks was accorded: to tbe G.P. for his address. A telegram from the North Island District, and a letter from the A.O.F. conveying fraternal greetings, were read. The Secretary, balance sheet, showing the total of district funds to be £2772 18s lid, an increase of £425 7s 5d for the year, after payment of £190 funeral claims, and the Auditor's report, were lead and adopted. Several amendments to the rules were adopted, and a new rule agreed to, to the effect:—" That on a member attaining tbe age of seventy years, all payments into the Order shall cease, he shall be privileged to full membership, and entitled to full benefit according to law." The report of the Board of Management was read, reviewing the various events of the year, and also stating that' District Presidents as follows had been appointed for the current, term:—No. 1 District, P.A Bro. H. E. Smith; No. 2District, P.A. Bro. E. A. Squire; Ufa. 3 District, P.A Bro. T. Greaves; No. 4 Distriot, P.A. Bro. J. G. Harris; If a 5 District, P.A £ro. R. W. Simpson; No. 6 District, P.A. Bro. J. Bartrftm, A. C. Bartram, R. E. Beckett, and J. Hooker; Auditors, Bros. W. Barnes, J. 0. Hobson, and A. Hutton; Judioial Appeal Committee, Bros. A. Hulbert, A. Marshall, J. R. Tulley, T. J- Gledhill, G. J. Neill. The newly-elocted officers wore duly installed, and thanked the brethren for plaoing them in their position. Votes of thanks were accorded to the scrutineers, retiring officers, and Bro. J. S. Keith for his 'services rendered to tho District at Dunedin. P.D.G.P. Bro. C. Thomson presented the retiring D.G.P. Bro. J. Svvinnorton with-a handsome collar and case, as a reward for his services. Bro. J. Swinnerton suitably responded. It was resolved that the next annual meeting be held at Lincoln.
