(PRESS association telegrams.) AUCKLAND, December 21. Forty Austuians arrived by the Rotomahana for flio Northern gumfields. Additional particulars with regard to the stabbing of Kenneth Bain, at To Kuiti on Friday night, show that Bain waa staying at Benuett _ boarding house, and a half-caste boy waa sleeping iu the same room. As soon aa tho row commenced the boy disappeared. Bain was thon stabbed and nothing was known of the affair till the following merning, when he was found. He was stabbed in the right side, and Dr. Kinny thinks either a lung or the liver is punctured. Tho man is in a critical condition. Two foreigners, charged with being concerned in the stabbing affray were brought up at Te Kuiti on Saturday and remanded for eight days. David Veal, aged eighteen, who had beaten a girl named Millicent Craig, was sent-encod to a month's imprisonment without the option of a line. WELLINGTON, December 21. Florence, the younqest daughter of Mr John Duthie, ex-M.H.R., died this morning from meningitis, after a short illness. His eldest daughter died only ii few days ago.
