Logan, the late president of the Auckland A.A. and CO., has written to Mr Esam, the treasurer, stating that he is giving a silver challenge cup to be competed for at the future meetings of the club. Mr Logan leaves it entirely to the committee to say what event it shall be competed for. j The Wanganui A.A. and C.C. appear to have had a very successful gathering last week. No very startling performances-were recorded, bnt I notice a local paper gives A. H. Holder credit of winning the 120yds Hardies in 15 _-sih see. As he started 12yds behind scratch, it is probable the time is for ] the 120yds, which wonld thas be from a flying Skirt, and which, of coorse.'Jcannot be considered as record. A. H. Holder also showed up well in the sprint events, while his brother also did well in these races, finishing second in the 100yds, 250yds and 440yds. The times recorded in the long distance events were poor, and the performances in the field events call for no special mention. Mr G-. A. M. Buckley, who is about to visit South America and then theOldCountry, was on Thursday the recipient of a handsomelyframed photographic group of Ashburton athletes. The presentation was made in Britton's Commercial Hotel, Ashburton, by Mr W. Mitchell, on behalf of the athletes, aa a token of appreciation of the keen interest in athletics taken by Mr Buckley, and the valuable assistance he had always given in the form of haudsomo trophies and other jp__M_
