StMI'IHo a Bridlb. — Archur Henry Yeatlon, aged nine years, was charged with stealing a liprse,* 8.-uldle and bridle, valued at £17, the property of Wm. Smith. At the suggestion of his Worship, to ' enable him to deal summarily with him, the charge about the horse was withdrawn, and he then pleaded guilty to stealing the bridle. The facts were that on December 15th, the boy watched Mr Smith's groom plant the key of the stable. He afterwards went in, saddled the horse, and rode her about for two or three hours ; he then turned her into a paddock' at Lin wood, hiding the saddle and bridle in a' fence. He returned to the place iiQfct day and was captured. He had already been convicted for, with other boys, breaking into a shop and stealing lollies, toys, &c. . His parents now stated that they thought the boy was not quite right in the. head, the result of accidents, &c. Two years ago he ht»d St. Vitus'e dance, afterwards he underwent a seriouß operation, and later still ho had begnxun oyer by a baker's cart. They now hod mode arrangements to send him forthwith to his uncle at Cheviot. His Worship, after fur* ther enquiry, said he thought tin's might? be done in lieu of sending him to Burnham, and remanded htm till Tuesday ;,if by that time lie had been sent away, no more would be heard of Iho charge. Almsokd" Wife ' — Louisa Taylor, for whom'Mr appeared, charged her husband, John l N. Taylor, with this offence. After some evidence had been heard, the case was adjourned till December 22nd, for the attendance of other witnesses. Prohibition Order.—An order of this kind was issued against ja. man, to take effect in Christchurch, 4 von » Riccarton, Lyttelton and Selwyn for one year.
