At the fishing competition at the Wftitaki river on Thursday evening, under the. auspices of the Oamaru Acclimatisation Socieuy, twenty fishermen competed. The river was {o bed order. (Che following are the prise .
winners :—Jno. Mitchell, four fish, weighing 201b, wins the Society's first prize and Mr Moss'b special ; P. Morrissy, three fish, weighing 19ilb, wins the Society's second prize and Messrs G. and T. Young's special; Charles Whyte and Charles Swinard divide third and fourth prizes and Messrs Milligan and Bond's, special with three fish each, weighing 101b respectively ; J. Duncan wins the Society's prize of 5s for the largest fish, which weighed 10lb; P. Dandie wins Mr Brady's special with three fish weighing 8Jlb; Mr William Harrison wins Mr Schulter's special with three fish weighing 7|lb ; and Mr W. Bruce wins Mr 3. M. Brown's special with one fish weighing 2slb. Counted out—W. H. Dennison, one fish, 21b; G. Bruce, one fish, lib.
