CHRISTCHURCH RACING CLUB.

The annual gathering of the Christchurch Racing Club at New Brighton yesterday drew a large attendance, and the sport was of an interesting character. Only one first favourite succeeded, that being in the last race, in which Derrett, on the winner, was seen to great advantage. Tho principal item on tlie card was taken by Skirmisher, who won very comfortably. The green and white hoops of Mr Butler, which have not been seen on a racecourse for some little time, wero successfully borne by Rustic, in both the races in which tho gelding took part. As they ran past Mace'e Marino dropped baok, and Remorse was followed by Quiltiri and Vogengang, Skirmisher being next. Remorse commenced to fall back at the top turn, and Vogengang and Quiltiri camo on in advance of Skirmisher. The latter took command when heads were turned for home, and easily holding his place won by a length and a half from Marino, who coming with a faab run from insido the distance beat Quiltiri for second place by a neck.
