CRICKET COUNCIL.
A meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council was held at the Clarendon Hotel last night. Present—Messrs J. H. Wood, Nelson (in the chair); W. H. E. Wanklyn, Taranaki ; G. A. U. Tauper, Southland; J. W. Collins and C. A. Treweek, Wellington ; A. Fairbairnyf Ofcago ; T. "D. Harman and H. D. Carter. Canterbury ; C. R. Smith (Hon. Sec), J. A. Fowke and Hon. E. C. J. Stevens, Auckland. An apology was received for the absence of Mr Wilding.. The Secretary reported that the Australian Eleven's tour had been satisfactorily completed and, no-doubt, pricket generally had benefited. The accounts for the Aus-tralian-New Zealand match showed —Receipts—Admission, £557 14s; booths, &c, £27 13s—total, £585 Is. The expenses were—Advertising. £15 14s 7d ; tea, &c, £17 9s; drags, &c, £6 17s; materials, expenses, &c, £44 15s 3d; gates, &c, £152 163 3d ; amount to visiting team, £237 5s 6d; profit on match, £81 ; 75 per cent, to the Canterbury Association, £60 15s ; balance to Council, £20 Bs. The statement of accounts for the> tour of the Australians showed : — Receipts from Auckland £223 10s, Wellington £150, Southland £150, Otago £15116s 9d, New Zealand match £585 7s ; total £1260 13a 9d. Expenditure—Australians, half gross taking.s five matches, £811 13a 2d; expenses New Zealand match £267 Is 6d, Council's share of profit in New Zealand match £60 18s, expenses of delegates to accompany visitors £25 15s Id, profit to Council £95 4s. The accounts were passed. A special vote of thanks was accorded to the selectors for their services. The following programme of matches was decided upon for the Queensland team's tour :—Auckland, December 22nd and 23rd; New Zealand, at Wellington, 26th, 28th and 29th ; Hawke's Bay, December 31st, January Ist and 2nd ;. Canterbury, January Bth, 9th and 11th; Otago, .15th, 16th and 18th; Southland 20th, 21st and 22nd. A? the Wellington Association had offered to give up their provincial match it was decided that the New Zealand match be played at Wellington, on the 26th, 28th, and 29th, provided the Wellington Association agrees to share the risk equally with the Council ; in which case the Association shall also share the profits in the same proportion.. . It was also decided to write to the provincial Associations, asking them, in the event of their making a profit over their matches with the Queensland team, to allocate 10 per cent, of the profits to the Council. It was agreed, on . account of the limited time at the disposal of ~ the Council, to appoint Messrs Fowke, Tapper and Smith, three members of the Council, as the Selection Committee. It was resolved to write to Major Wardill asking him if arrangements could be made for a visit to New Zealand next season of Stoddai-t's team, and if so on what terms. It was decided to place before the M.C.C. the case of the finish, of the Australia-New Zealand match, and to ask for a ruling on the questions—' . When a match is actually finished, when time should be called, and whether an umpire has power to allow for what he considers a waste of time ? " The Council then adjourned.
