LOCAL OPTION POLL.
The following are the complete returns ot the licensing poll in the Lyfctelton district:—
(PBES3 ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) NELSON, December 7. 1 The Rev. J. H. Gray, President of the Nelson Prohibition Council, writes to the laatt stating that while the Licensing Act of 1895 does not allow the votes polled for. prohibition to be added to the votes for reduction, the number* published in Saturday's Mail Bwm to point to (he conolueion jhat the whole of the reduction votes polled have not yet been counted. He points out, that the strong probability is Uiat from 80 to 90 per cent, of those who voted nolicense voted also for reduction, and if that number be deducted, from the published reduction vote it leaves between . four and five hundred only who voted for reduction merely, while the general opinion expressed is that a very much heavier vote was cast for reduction than for prohibition. If this be the case, the bulk of the 1010 votes will need to be added to the 1311, while this will probably result in a redaction vote being carried. Presumably the same applies to other parts of the colony.
