WELLINGTON RACING CLUB.
(B_ Telegraph.)
(FROM OUR CORRESPONDEI.T). WELLINGTON, November 25. Splendid weather greeted the local Club for the second day's racing of the Exhibition Meeting. The attendance was very good, and the course was in excellent condition, but a southerly breeze which sprang up during the afternoon interfered with good times being recorded. The racing was excellent, and Waiuku covered himself with glory by his dual victory in the Pearce and Hutt Park /Spring Handicaps. He was always prominent in both races, and struggled to the end of them in a workmanlike manner, being ridden but on both occasions. The sum of £7780 passed through the totalisators, being £383 more than on the first day, making £15,177 for the two days, which is an increase of £6205 compared with last Spring Meeting. No bookmakers were allowed in the paddock, and 'to this is attributable the large increase. Not a single favourite scored on either day. Results— PETONI. Marino caused considerable delay at the post owing to repeatedly refusing to join the field. He, however, was the first away, and led into the back stretch from Douglas, with Seabreeze and The Miser close handy, the latter followed by Leda, with Kingsman in the rear and running unkindly. At the five furlong post Douglas had moved up to the leader, and Leda also commenced to go up, and on turning into the-stnight: was on terms with Douglas and Marino, while Sea Breeze was about a length away from the trio. Leda then came on and won comfortably by half a length, the same distance separating second and third, Seabreeze close up fourth. The Miser a length away fifth, and Kingsman a bad last. Time, lmin 45j_sec. Dividend, £4 ss.

The Shrew and St. Laura were here running in the rear, and Rangtpuhi was making up his lost ground in fine style. At the top turn Waiuku was leading Errand Boy and Mahaki by a length, with Orion's Belt coming fast three lengths away. Mahaki, Waiuku and Errand Boy entered the straight together, .and the top weight appeared to be going the strongest, but died away in the run home, while Waiuku kept pegging away, and although he rolled about considerably in the last twenty yards gained the judge's verdict by half a length, Errand Boy being next in front of Orion's Belt, who was a head ia advance of Mahaki, with Rangipuhi, who was going faster than anything at the finish, fifth.
