AUCKLAND, November 25.

The National Bank shipped by the Rotomahana five boxes of bullion, containing 53270_, valued at _-'6800. The shipment is to be forwarded to London by the •Tongariro. On the last rabbit day at Waikato the Natives brought 20,000 skins. They report that weasels are spreading rapidly in tho King Country and proving destructive amongst the rabbits. Taupo telegrams state that the eruption of T. Mare still .continues, the volcanic .dust, "being carried in a south-easterly direction towards tho Kaimanawa ranges. Earth tremors are felt. The geysers in the neighbourhood of Wairakei and Spa show no abnormal action. Ngaruhoe, which like Ruapehu was almost covered with snow early this morning, is now almost denuded. Solomon Solomon, alias Samuels, pleaded guilty to four charges of over-selling mining shares. His counsel undertook that the money so obtained would bo returned and he was admitted to probation for twelve months.

GISBORNE, November 25.

.At an inquest held at Matawhero into a fire at the residence of Charles ' Macfarlane, on August last, the jury returned a verdict that the house was burned down by some person unknown, and that there was not the value of property in the house at the time of the fire as applied for by Macfarlane to the Insurance Company. The police subsequently arrested Macfarlane and charged him with arson and making a false declaration. He was remanded for a week.

Mr James Macfarlarte was elected Cook County Chairman.

NEW PLYMOUTH, November 25. Mr H. Okey was elected Chairman of the Taranaki County Council. The weather for the Metropolitan Show to-morrow is threatening. The entries are very numerous. FEILDING, November 25.

At the inquest on Lacey Fowler, who was found dead in the Empire Hotel a verdict of " Died from natural causes " was returned. He was an abstainer from alcohol.

Councillor Harris, Greenstone, was unanimously elected Chairman ol the Grey County Council. HOKITIKA, November 25. Mr John Staines was elected Chairman of the Westland County Council.
