are already in demand, and the on-tout-cas still holds its own for ordinary use, as it servos to ward off a shower as well as the too warm attentions of the sun. Shot silk en-tout-cas are again in favour, the new blue and green combination being well to the front. The frames and sticks are of the slenderest make ; therefore, when rolled up, the sunshades resemble that " charming fellah," whioh " looks like a stick, but is an umbrella." The handles are far less ornate, and much more tasteful than those in fashion ' last year. Some terminate in quite a small crutch of gold, silver, or crystal, clasped with gold; others have a plain flat top of gold or silver, sometimes adapted for a tiny vinaigrette or cachou-box—nice women no longer carry miniature powder puffs in their sunshade handles — others again have ' a " small ball or fancy stone in a metal olaw, - and not a few have natural cherry wood handles. Neatness is altogether the pre- , vailing characteristic. Elaborate sunshades will not, of course, be in demand until tho season is further advanced.
