THE PUBLIC TRUSTEE.

As was foreshadowed in my telegrams several weeks ago, Ministers have decided to recommend Mr J. C. Martin's appointment as Public Trustee for the favourable consideration of the Governor, and as it is understood that Mr Martin has agreed to accept the appointment, it may be regarded as Airtually settled. It is rumoured* that a local solicitor A.ill succeed Mr Martin as S.M. Mr Martin has proved himself a very capable Magistrate, and his good judgment and sound common sense should stand him in good stead in his new sphere of action.
