CHRISTCHURCH GOLF CLUB.
The first round of tho Championuhin oi the Christchurch Golf Club was played on the links on the North park ye_terd_» afternoon. The greens were in capital order and the games were well contested. TherJ was, however, a fresh easterly breejr. which necessitated the exercise of a mom than ordinary amount of judgment in driv* ing. One of the most interesting games wu that between B. H. Burns and W. Lambie the former having the best of the first lia\L j but the young player showed fine form hi [ the second half, while Mr Burns had the misfortune to get into difficulties in negotiating the two worst hazards on the linfcg The second round will be played on Tuesday afternoon, commencing at two o'clock. Major Taylor beat A. S. Otterson, 4 im aud 3 to play. " J. C. Wilson beat J. M. Turnbull, 4un and 2 to play. '
C. WiUn beat P.. L. M. Kitto, 4 up and 3 to play.
