Rackarock and Toreador were hot favourites, the best price about either being 5 to 2. Mr Hordern's coit, however, was never dangerous, but Ra -karock justified the confidence of backers and won l as he liked. Mosaic and Morocco had a great battle for third place, which Morocco just managed to secure on the post. A.J.C. DERBY, a sweep of 30 soys each, with 500 soys added ; second iOO soys from the prize, and third to save his stake. For three-year-olds. The Held cantered until reaching the mile post, when Charge began to improve the pace. Passing the scraping sheds Gozoczar was in the van, with Charge and Coil handy. Entering the straight Charge took command, but when fairly on the run home the favourite, coining with a fast run, put in a decided challenge, every inch of the way being fought out desperately. The Carbine colt, however, was equal to the occasion, and maintaining his advantage to tbe finish swept past the post a head in front of the favourite. The time, which was wretchedly slow, was 3min 14scc. EPSOM HANDICAP, a sweep of 20 soys each, with 1000 soys added ; second 200 s.vs and third 100

Betting—s to 2 against Hopscotch, 7to 1 Nada, 8 to 1 Dalmeny, 10 to I Reka, 20 to 1 Steward.
On the fall of the flag Cremorne and Navarine rushed to the front, with Steward and Amiable next, and Le Var last. At the three-furlong post Cremorne gave place to Amiable, who had Hopscotch, Attachment, Navarine and Cremorne as bis most immediate attendants. After traversing another furlong Attachment took up the running, and the favourite began to fall away to the rear. Entering the straight Amiable came again and divested Attachment of the lead, while Le Var could be seen moving towards the leaders. Once heads were turned for home, Dalmeny and Steward came with a great run, hotly pursued by Le Var, and a splendid finish resulted in a short neck victory for Steward. Time, lmin 40_sec. SPUING STAKES, a sweep of 10 soys each with 400 soys added ; second 50 soys from the stake. "Weight-for-age. One mile and a half. Messrs Jones and Cooper's eh c Newhaven, by Newminster— Oceana, 3 yrs, lat 51b .. .. 1 Mr A. Hcoke's (jun.) by c True Blue, by Hotchkisa —Rose ot Wellington, 4 yrs, 9st .. .. 2 Mr I>. O'Brien's br m Response, by Richmond--Bis Bis, 6 yrs, 9st lib .. .... .. 3 Betting—6 to 4 on Newhaven, 5 to 1 against _*ort, any price the others. The Skipper, Trentham, and Response carried on the running to the back of the course, where the favourite closed up, and, quickly smothering the field, romped home in the good time of 2min 37sec. KENSINGTON HANDICAP, a sweep of 5 soys each, with 200 soys added; second 50 soys from the prize. One mile. Mr D. O'Brien's b c Cartridge, by Carbine—St. Odilie, 4 yrs, 7st 51b 1 Mr E. O'Brien's colt held a good position throughout, and, taking charge when entering the straight, won by a length. Time, lmin 41fsec. Donald McKinnon has been scratched for all engagements and Chris for the First Hurdles.
