MAGISTERIAL.
CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, September 12. (Before R. Beetham, Esq., S.M.) Drunkenness.—Mary Bell, charged with this offence, was convicted and disc-barged on a member of the" Salvation Army undertaking to look after her for three months. A, woman, not before convicted, was fined ss, or in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment with hard labour. Alleged Vagrancy.—Albert Payne, for whom Mr Donnelly appeared, was charged with vagrancy. It was proved thut he consorted with thieves and prostitutes, and had done no work for the last few weeks. Ho called witnesses, who stated that since his discharge from gaol in May he had for two or three months been hawking pigs' head*., &c. He was convicted, and ordered to clear out of town in forty-eight hours, on pain of being sent to gaol for three months.
