GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET.
Since the return of fine weather business in grain and produce has revived. There is an improved local demand for wheat, millers having during the week purchased a considerable quantity to replenish their stocks. Several lines have also been shipped to Auckland. A line of Tuscan and Hunter's was sold at a price equal to 3s s_d, f.0.b., and a line of Tuscan and Pearl at 33 4d, ex-store, at Christchurch. Oats remain at the recently reduced quotations. A considerable quantity ha. been offered, but few sales were effected. Several lines of beans have been sold for export at quotations. Potatoes are firm, and a large quantity has changed hands this week. Napier is buying pretty largely, and a small line has been shipped to Newcastle. Business in seedhas been fairly brisk, the most enquiry being for cowgrass and clover. Heavy, shotty ryegrass is in good demand, and maintains its price. With the growth of spring feed and consequent increase in the output of butter, the price of this article shows a natural downward tendency.
