ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(press association telegrams.) AUCKLAND, September 5. . Mr Jame3 McHugh, a farmer at Papatoitoi, was found dead in his dwelling. He lived alone, and is believed to have a brother and sister in America. He had a comfortably stocked farm, money and Bank receipts in the house. GISBORNE, September 4. A man, name unknown, was drowned in the river lat« last night. The night watchman at the freezing works heard cries for help, and a rescue party put out in a boat but found no trace of him. A very strong current was flowing out of the river, and it is supposed that the body has been carried Out t«i sea. The victim is supposed to 1« Eugene Joseph Sullivan, who α-ime here from Napier. A search was made to-day by the police, but so far has proved unsuccessful."
