RUNAWAY PRISONER CAUGHT.

Constable Kelly went in the direction of Haveiock, via Wakapuaka, and tracked boot prints, which were visible occasionally, the wearer having walked in water where he! could. On reaching the house of Mr Bird, in Wftngamoa, the owner of which was absent, the constable stopped and watched, knowing that there were firearms in the house, till the return of Mr Bird, and about half-past sii: on Saturday evening Bird's dog showed that?' someone wOvS in the scrub. Kelly covered Anderson with a revolver, and he was then handcuffed. He was brought to town eai-Jy this morning. The prisoner walked , through'part of the town on Friday night and met a number of people, but he said they took no notice of him.
