MASONIC.

The following appears in the Dunedin Evening Star with reference to the statement that the United Grand Lodge of England did hot reverse the right to issue charters to the territory reigned over by the Australian Grand Lodges :—•" In amplification of the information in our issue of the 7th inst. haying reference to the recognition of the United Grand Lodge of Victoria by the Grand Lodge of England, tfce following extracts promised by the Grand Secretary, John Braim, as to the terms of that recognition are just to hand :—Extract from letter dated London, June 11th, 1889, from the United Grand Lodge of England: ' I have the pleasure to inform you that the matter having been duly aud fully considered at that meeting, the Grand Lodge of England ,unanimously resolved that the United Grand Lodge of Victoria be recognised as a regular and lawful Masonic body, on the understanding that, should the two Lodges who have not as yet joined still desire to, remain under the English Constitution, their right to do so will be fully Allowed and admitted.' Extract from letter from the Grand Lodge of Scotland, dated August Bth, 1889—'X have pleasure in informing you that Grand Lodge has resolved to open fraternal relations with the United Grand Lodge of Victoria, and have at the same time acceded to the request of the seceding Scottish-holding Lodges to be allowed to retain : their original charters as memorials of their Masonic connection with Scotland.' This entirely disposes of the assertion that the British Grand Lodges reserved their right to issue charters in the territory of the United 'Grand Lodge of Victoria."
