Mr JENKINSON asked the Government if it would appoint three or more mail agents or letter-sorters to travel ia steamers carrying mails between Xjybteltoa and Wellington, with a view to bringing about greater despatch in the delivery of mails. Mr \V. O. WALK BR aaid that there wae no necessity for eucn appointments at the present time. BILLS. The following Bills ware read a firab time :—New Zealand luatitute of faurveyore, Sea Fisheries Act Amendment, Supreme Coart Act Amendment Bills. MOJSICIPAI. CORPORATIONS. Mr FELDWICK, in moviug the second reading-of the Municipal Corporations Act Amendment Bill, stated that the measure was the swno aa that introduced by himself last session. The Bill wav designed to give municipal corporations the same power in dealing with closed streata as was at the present time given to County Couucile. After a shotc debate, 6he iiili was read a second time, and referred to the Statutee Revision Committee. ADULTERATION PREVENTION. The Adulteration Prevention Act" Amendment Bill was farther considered in Committee. , On the voices, &n amendmono proposed by Mr W. C. WALKER in lieu of Mr (*. Oonej'a amendment in reference to coffee, which had been atruok out, waa also struck out. j.■ « • The effect is that coffee is not inoluded u> the meußuro. The Bill was then reported. Ab 4 p.m. the Council adjourned.
