is>i • Just after Mr Wild's coach left Belfast on Saturday morning one of the swingletrees broke and striking one of tho horses caused it to bolt, the other two following suit. The driver, in attempting to stop them, pulled the. reins suddenly with the result that they broke, and the horses then galloped away down the North road at a great pace. After the reins broke the driver climbed along the top of his coach and down the back. Among the passengers were three ladies. After pursuing their unchecked career for some distance one oi the horses fell, audaman rushing up oaught hold of the other two and stopped them. It was then found tbat the ladies were quite safe, but though not hurt were considerably frightened, one so much so as to cause her to faint. It was a for: tuaate thing that one of the horse* fell,for had they continued their mad career without any check, there is no telling where they wonld have brought up, or what damage would-have resulted.. The horse that fell was very much out about and will not work again for some time. The body of a young woman named Alice Tavaner was found in the Timaru harbour yesterday morning.
