THE KING AND THE NURSE.

Mrs Makropoulo, the English nurse who had been in the service of the Hellenic Royal family ever since the birth of the Duke of Sparta, in 1868, died suddenly at the Royal palace, Athens, recently. The funeral was attended by King George, all the Koyal Princes at the time in Athens, and the Princess Marie of Greece. At the conclusion of the service, which was conducted by Mr Elliot (the British chajikin), the King himself, with the Duke of Sparta and Princes George and Nicholas of Greece, carried the coffin to the hearse.
