HEALTH OF LYTTELTON.
The Lytfcelton Board of Health, at its meeting on Monday night, resolved on tAking certain steps to improve the sanitation of the borough, which will be found detailed in our report of the meeting. The proposals seem good so far as they go, but obviously everything will depend on the way in which the by-laws and regulations are administered. If they are carried out with rigid impartiality, and if the inspection is thorough-and efficient, it ought to go a long way towards making Lyttelton one of the most healthy towns in the colon} , , as by the natural advantages of its climate and situation it ought to be. The Board of Health, who have been terribly dilatory in the past, have now an opportunity of rehabilitating their reputation and that of the town at the same time. We; hope that in a short period they will be able to report that the epidemics of typhoid and diphtheria have been stamped out, and thereafter, by keeping the town clean and ensuring the purity of the milk supply, that they will do all in their power to secure it from such visitations in the future.
