Betting—Even money Courallie, 4 to 1 agst Delaware, 7 to 1 Valiant, 20 to 1 Tire. Courallie had all the best of the start, but was soon displaced by Huret and Delaware. This pair led into the straight, but when well in the home stretch Tire came with a wet sail from the centre of the field, *and won by two lengths, a length between Delaware and Courallie. The Harvester was the first to move, but being steadied allowed Valiant to take command, with Toreador next. In this order they entered tbe straight on the second round, with the favourite in a handy position. When the race began in real earnest Wallace came with a great rattle, and won easily by a length, half a leogth separating second and third. Time, 3min 46£ sec. CITY HANDICAP, a sweep of 10 soys each, with 300 soys added; second 50 soys from the stake. One mile and a half. Mr S. Hordern's blk g The Skipper, by Robinson Crusoe—Lady Warden, 3 yrs, ost 121b .. .. 1 Messrs Brennan and Noake's eh h The Trier, by Trident—Lady Bird. 5 vrs, Bst 101b .. .. 2 Mr H. C. White's br f Scotch Lassie, by The Drummer—Highland Mary, 4 yrs, 6st 121b .. 3 Seventeen started. The Skipper was favourite at 4 to 1. Cradle piloted the way into the straight, when the favourite came with a rush and won handsomely by a length, Scotch Lassie a good third. Response shaped well early in the race, but waa blocked. Time, 2miu 38sec.
